Job Description
planqc is seeking a Senior Optical Engineer to design, build, and maintain the optical infrastructure for their quantum processors. This role involves working with quantum engineer teams, analyzing optical designs, developing custom components, and troubleshooting complex optical issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical engineering and experience with CAD tools.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- Minimum of 5-8 years industry experience in designing optical and opto-mechanical systems
- Strong hands-on experience in optical assembly in a research or industrial setting
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g. Zemax, SolidWorks) for optical and optomechanical design
- Deep knowledge of relevant optical components (optical modulators, lasers, high numerical aperture systems...)
- Comfortable moving quickly from concept to prototype
- Enthusiastic about optical setups and tuning systems
