Hazmat Technician

We are seeking a Safety Hazmat Technician to join our Elgin, IL service center office. The Hazmat Technician will be responsible for emergency response, hazardous materials clean-up, site-remediation, equipment decontamination, and other duties.

Requirements

• 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
• Wear proper personal protective equipment when required
• Work effectively and communicate with team members and other departments
• Inform the management team of issues that arise on jobs in a timely manner
• Update job notes daily
• Physically fit; able to lift 75 lbs.
• Able to thrive in a high-pressure and fast-paced team-supported environment
• Lead safety in all aspects of emergency response
• Experience operating tools applicable to emergency response activities
• Set up and participate in live training events
• Audit incoming/outgoing hazardous materials shipments for compliance
• Ability to coach co-workers on unsafe behaviors
• Willing to participate in specialized scheduled projects
• Competent in Microsoft Office applications
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, customer service, and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to work in a confidential capacity
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, while being detail oriented
