Job Description
This is a job description for an Engineer, Transmission Planning – Expansion Planning position at Southern Company. The role involves leading and performing transmission planning power flow analyses, developing system-wide power flow models, and coordinating with multiple groups to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
- Master’s degree in engineering or business
- Professional Engineering License
- Transmission planning experience including electrical power system modeling and analysis
- Experience in generation development, procurement, and resource planning
- Experience in bulk power operations or commercial operations
- Experience in transmission design, maintenance, and protection and controls
- Experience in transmission project management, estimating, and scheduling
- Experience in transmission policy and services
- Experience in any area of power delivery
