Job Description
As part of the SSVF team, Outreach Specialist is responsible for initial contact and intake assessments for Veterans and their families seeking homeless prevention or rapid re-housing assistance. This role focuses on providing customer service, conducting referrals, managing applications, and ensuring veteran households navigate the SSVF process. The position involves outreach to various locations, utilizing person-centered, trauma-informed services, and consistent follow-up.
Requirements
- Provide outreach through materials, informational/educational presentations and marketing.
- Address crowds of varying sizes and offer program presentations.
- Provide resource and referral services to community members.
- Execute outreach plan functions and coordinate resources.
- Assist program participants with accessing community services.
- Maintain a small caseload.
- Travel to outreach locations including medical centers, homeless shelters, and VA locations.
