Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Designer specializing in Design for Additive Manufacturing (AM) to support innovative engineering projects in the aerospace and defense industry. This role will focus on the design and optimization of components for AM processes while handling limited responsibilities related to maintenance and operational builds on AM equipment.
Requirements
- Develop and optimize mechanical designs for AM processes
- Apply conventional mechanical design methods, including DFM principles, structural analysis, and tolerance optimization, alongside AM-specific techniques
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate AM capabilities into design concepts and production workflows
- Perform hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting of AM machines
- Operate AM machines for prototype builds and low-volume production runs
- Support lab operations, inventory management, and machine calibration or upgrades
- Generate technical documentation, including CAD models, drawings, specifications, and process documentation for AM components
- Proactively identify opportunities to expand AM production capabilities
