Short Answer

Which is better, Hirebase or Fantastic.jobs?

Pick Fantastic.jobs if you want LinkedIn, Wellfound and Y Combinator listings in the same feed as ATS jobs, or need under 20,000 jobs a month from $45. Pick Hirebase for history (about 29M expired jobs since 2023; Fantastic.jobs keeps none), hourly rather than daily expiry, visa sponsorship on every job, a Hiring Manager agent, and a lower price at every API tier from 25,000 jobs: 250,000 jobs cost $249 against $500.

Where Hirebase wins

  • About 29 million expired jobs since 2023; Fantastic.jobs keeps no expired history.
  • Closed jobs removed every hour; Fantastic.jobs re-checks expiry once a day.
  • No 6-month cutoff: a job stays in the index for as long as the employer keeps it open.
  • Cheaper at every API tier from 25,000 jobs: $999 for 2 million against $2,800.
  • A permanent free plan, semantic search and resume matching.
  • Visa sponsorship detected on each job, and a Hiring Manager agent that finds the likely hiring manager and recruiters for a job, including the many postings that name no one.
  • Enterprise ATSs including Workday, iCIMS, Taleo, Paycor, Phenom, isolved, Avature, BrassRing, PageUp, Paradox, UKG and Dayforce.
  • 8–10M active jobs against the 2 million-plus active career-site jobs its Apify feed describes.
  • Webhooks, an MCP server and Claude and ChatGPT connectors; Fantastic.jobs offers none of these.

Where Fantastic.jobs wins

  • A LinkedIn, Wellfound and Y Combinator feed alongside its ATS feed.
  • AI-extracted fields such as office days and beta ISCO, O*NET and SOC occupation codes.
  • A $45 entry plan and a modified-jobs feed.

3M+ is new jobs a month, not active jobs

Its 3M+ career-site figure counts jobs indexed per month. Its Apify feed describes the active career-site database as over 2 million jobs.
Source: apify.com/fantastic-jobs/career-site-job-listing-api

Every job expires at 6 months

Its docs say the 6-month backfill holds active jobs only and every job is auto-expired after 6 months, so there is no expired history to buy.
Source: docs.fantastic.jobs

Closed jobs are re-checked once a day

Its docs say expiry is checked once per day, so a filled job can stay live in your database for up to a day.
Source: docs.fantastic.jobs

No expired-jobs endpoint on the $45 plan

Its pricing puts the expired-jobs endpoint on the $95 plan and above, so the $45 plan cannot tell you which jobs closed.

Questions to ask Fantastic.jobs before you buy

  • How many jobs are active right now, rather than new this month?
  • What happens to a job that is still open after 6 months?
  • How fast does a filled job disappear from the feed?
  • How do you count a job posted in several cities?
Quality By Design

Why Hirebase skips job-board-only jobs.

We deliberately don't index jobs that exist only on job boards. Listings reposted across Indeed, Glassdoor, Adzuna, Monster and the rest are where stale, agency and duplicate jobs pile up. Providers that index boards have to decide when a job that appears in many places has really closed. Here is how three of them describe it in their own docs.

Coresignal: active until every copy expires

Its data dictionary marks a job expired only when all of its related records, across every source, have expired.
Source: docs.coresignal.com/jobs-data/multi-source-jobs-data/dictionary-multi-source-jobs-data

Techmap: duplicates kept, never re-checked

Its FAQ says duplicates are kept and flagged, postings are not re-checked for removal after collection, and a job is assumed active until its validThrough date or 30 days after it was created.

TheirStack: Indeed and LinkedIn first

Its sources page lists indeed.com (39.87%) and linkedin.com (19.11%) as its largest sources, and its webhook docs say a null closed_at “means the job is still considered open (or we don’t know yet)”.
