Principal Engineer, PlatformOS

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the technical roadmap for PlatformOS, a foundational infrastructure and software backbone enabling engineering teams to build, deploy, and operate services at scale. The successful candidate will help elevate PlatformOS from a strong engineering org to a truly enabling, scalable, platform-led capability.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience in a fast-paced environment (startup or high-velocity delivery context).
• Hands-on experience building production systems (expect to code ~30% of your time). We use Python and TypeScript.
• Strong experience building platforms, infrastructure tooling or distributed services that support other engineering teams.
• Deep architectural knowledge: distributed systems, service architecture, APIs, deployment pipelines, observability, reliability.
• Proven experience in data modeling and API design across domains.
• Familiarity building or integrating AI/agent systems, working with LLMs, conversational UI/UX, or autonomous workflows.
• Excellent communication skills, able to influence senior stakeholders, translate ambiguous requirements and build cross-team alignment.
• U.S. Person status (due to export-control / DoD environment)
