Anduril Industries is a defense technology company seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the technical roadmap for PlatformOS. The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of software engineering experience and strong experience building platforms, infrastructure tooling, or distributed services. The role involves defining and leading the technical roadmap, architecting and designing complex distributed services, and integrating PlatformOS capabilities into a cohesive experience across product and platform teams.
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience in a fast-paced environment
- Hands-on experience building production systems (expect to code ~30% of your time)
- Strong experience building platforms, infrastructure tooling or distributed services that support other engineering teams
- Deep architectural knowledge: distributed systems, service architecture, APIs, deployment pipelines, observability, reliability
- Proven experience in data modeling and API design across domains
- Familiarity building or integrating AI/agent systems, working with LLMs, conversational UI/UX, or autonomous workflows
- Excellent communication skills, able to influence senior stakeholders, translate ambiguous requirements and build cross-team alignment
- U.S. Person status (due to export-control / DoD environment)
