Principal Engineer, PlatformOS

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the technical roadmap for PlatformOS. The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of software engineering experience, hands-on experience building production systems, and strong experience building platforms, infrastructure tooling, or distributed services.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience in a fast-paced environment
• Hands-on experience building production systems
• Strong experience building platforms, infrastructure tooling, or distributed services
• Deep architectural knowledge: distributed systems, service architecture, APIs, deployment pipelines, observability, reliability
• Proven experience in data modeling and API design across domains
• Familiarity building or integrating AI/agent systems, working with LLMs, conversational UI/UX, or autonomous workflows
• Excellent communication skills, able to influence senior stakeholders, translate ambiguous requirements and build cross-team alignment
