Social Studies Teacher (Middle School, Grades 5 to 8)

The Social Studies Teacher (Middle School, Grades 5 to 8) position at the school requires a full-time teacher to create lesson plans, administer assessments, and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration. The teacher will be responsible for managing student behavior, monitoring students in various educational environments, and participating in meetings and professional development activities. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to the school's mission, a minimum of 1+ years of teaching experience, and a current and valid Delaware State Teaching Certificate.

Requirements

• Follow and support all the school's policies, procedures and expectations
• Create lesson plans based upon the curriculum standards adopted by the school
• Administer and develop assessments to determine student competency levels
• Provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress
• Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, and parents for improving student outcomes
• Manage student behavior in alignment with the school discipline policies
• Monitor students in a variety of educational environments
• Participate in meetings and professional development activities
• Prepare and maintain appropriate records
• Facilitate Homeroom Advisory and Homework Hour
• Maintain an attractive and positive learning environment
• Assist in the overall functioning of the school
• Participate in parent/family school events
• Maintain a flexible and collaborative mindset
• Teach in the academic portion of the 4 week mandatory Summer Program, if necessary
