Head of Underwriting & Claims, Europe

The Head of Underwriting & Claims, Europe is responsible for leading all underwriting and claims activities for the UK and Ireland protection reinsurance business. The role involves managing risk, overseeing audits and due diligence, and delivering high-quality client service. The incumbent will be responsible for the development of the Europe Protection underwriting and claims strategy, philosophy, and policies in conjunction with wider business strategy.

Requirements

• Extensive recent experience of the UK and Ireland insurance industry
• Experience of working in the reinsurance sector
• Proven underwriting or claims management experience
• Well-developed understanding of the mortality and morbidity risks, associated products and distribution
• Strong leadership and management background
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Analytical skills combined with sound judgement and commercial awareness
• Ability to manage competing demands and deal with non-standard and unstructured requests
• Motivated to take ownership of work and to seek further responsibility
