Job Description
The Senior Project Estimator is responsible for developing comprehensive EPC proposals for high-voltage electrical projects. This role involves independently evaluating bids, preparing detailed cost estimates, leading proposal packages, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment on project scope, pricing, and execution. The position contributes to proposal quality, cost accuracy, and pre-award strategy, while also mentoring junior estimators and participating in ongoing improvement efforts.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Certification as a Journeyman Electrician or Power Systems Electrician is considered a strong asset.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical estimating, ideally in the electric utility or EPC sectors.
- Proven experience with renewables, distribution, and substation projects, including complex, multi-stakeholder proposals.
- Advanced proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, design packages, and construction specifications.
- Advanced experience with estimating software (e.g., Hard Dollar or equivalent).
- Proficient with Microsoft Project and/or Primavera.
- Strong knowledge of construction productivity, equipment capabilities, labor planning, and market rates.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of professional judgment.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Self-driven, proactive, and capable of working independently while also functioning as part of a larger team.
