Job Description
The Registered Nurse (TFT 1.0 FTE) will provide nursing care consistent with College Standards to patients with mental illness in conflict with the law. This role involves developing and implementing treatment plans, managing patient care, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. The nurse will also handle crisis situations and assist with symptom management, guided by Mental Health Act legislation. This position is a rural community hospital and may be subject to Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program.
Requirements
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse in the Province of Ontario
- BScN preferred
- Clear understanding of the MHA and relevant legislation
- Able to meet the Royal nursing and hospital standards for mandatory education (CPR, WHIMIS, Fire Safety and Evacuation Training).
- CPI and ASSIST training is considered an asset
- Recognized leadership skills
- Valid drivers’ license
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation (Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, Substitute Decision Act, PHIPA, and CSA)
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
- Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check
