Job Description
This integrated forensic nursing program provides specialized mental health care to individuals involved in the criminal justice system. Services include assessment, treatment for Not Criminally Responsible (NCR) or Unfit to Stand Trial, and those convicted of offenses. Treatment units are located in Ottawa and Brockville.
Requirements
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Up to 3 months of Nursing Experience
- Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues
- Clear understanding of MHA and relevant legislation
- Knowledge of psychiatric nursing practice (Canadian Standards)
- Knowledge of physical/medical compilations related to mental health and addictions
- CPR certification within the last 12 months
- Evidence of continuing professional education
- Effective verbal and written communications skills
- Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Problem solving, leadership and management skills
- Sensitivity, skills and experience working with diverse individuals and communities
- English level A-
